A ransomware attack has caused service disruption to some of the clients of Cognizant Technology Solutions.

The attack comes in the midst of thousands of its employees in India and the Philippines working from homes during the lockdown caused by Covid-19.

In a press release, Cognizant confirmed the security breach in their internal systems. It was attributed it to a Maze ransomware and has caused service disruptions to some of its clients.

Coronavirus attack to slow down IT

India’s giant IT services companies will see a significant slowdown in growth during this financial year as they grapple with the upheaval wrought by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to analysts.

“We expect revenue in the (first two quarters of this financial year) to be largely impacted by delay in pipeline conversion and pricing impact on core business,” wrote analysts Apurva Prasad, Amit Chandra and Vinesh Vala in a note.
